I partnered with Gig Wire to design the website from scratch. At first, we created a platform exclusively for skilled electricians but that idea evolved into a platform for hiring certified and reliable gig workers. I was a sole designer on this project responsible for prototypes and high fidelity designs.
THE CHALLENGE
Gig Wire has many advantages over any other hiring services (read temporary agencies, other gig economy platforms and even a full time commitment). I needed to concentrate designs around those advantages by creating a platform that will allow a more trustworthy employer - worker relationship. Enable gig workers to seek meaningful careers and produce exceptional work.
DISCOVERY
A research showed that some of the biggest problem of the today's gig economy platforms are:
• Commission rates up to 45% (encouraging disintermediation)
• Unvetted gigsters
• Inefficient stratification
• Digital temp agency
EMPLOYER SIDE pain points
• 30% of cable technicians are undocumented
• Of all construction professions, cable technicians are most likely to use opioids and cocaine
• Many contractors report quality issues when utilizing staffing agencies

Results
Design we made from scratch is modern, bold, strongly following the style we establish on the first project we've done together. Sans, narrow lettering with big titles, and clear body text is strong and welcoming with custom made icons provides delightful experience for each user. Working with John was great experience once again, and we're both happy with result.
